A Sudden Guest (The gift of new life)

Yesterday, I met precious little newborn Isaiah. Today, I met precious little newborn David. I’m sharing this poem in honor of these sweet boys as well as their brave and beautiful mamas, Katrina and Connie. Newborn life is an indescribable gift from God.

A Sudden Guest
by Elisabeth Snell and Jennifer Hall

Nestled in a quiet nook,
Hidden from the closest look,
Love’s rejoicing seed became a life.
Tiny hands will now rejoice.
God has sent a little voice
To praise His name, and warm our nest–
Welcome, baby! We are blessed.

Nestled in our loving arms,
Sheltered from a world of harm,
Now our eyes behold this newborn life.
To our God we offer praise,
In thanksgiving our voices we raise
For your sweet life, so new and fresh–
Welcome, baby! We are blessed.

These words take me back to November of 2008, when my husband Steve set them to music and sang them at our Sammy’s baby dedication. Sammy turns nine years old next week. Treasure the moments, ladies. Snuggle them close. ♥
