Following the events described in Part Three, everything started moving super fast. {If you are brand new to the story, you will want to start at Part One.} We got word that Dad’s longtime friend Tom was going to become the third person in the world to test the new vitamin. Tom was dealing with a recurrence of prostate cancer following a prostatectomy.  He was likely headed for chemo, but in the meantime he began to take MePA to see what effect (if any) it would have on his prostate levels, which were being checked every few months. What’s All This about a New Vitamin? Part Three.

We are now at a point in this story where things really start to get exciting. {Part One told my early memories of Dad and his work. Part Two took us through some dark and difficult times.}

Once a year, we would receive an “Aarcon Report.” (Aarcon handles the financial side of Dad’s research). The “Aarcon Report” was typically a single page, in which Dad reported on how his work was progressing and developing. He would report on various Vitamin X candidates that had  been tested and falsified, showing survival curves of mice, etc. We always read the report with interest and sometimes spent a little family time around the breakfast or dinner table, conjecturing about what would happen if Grandpa/Dad ever solved this puzzle. What’s All This about a New Vitamin? Part Two.

The next part of my telling of this story takes us through some dark times. We left Part One with Dad saying that he had the “dragon [of aging] in a corner.”

A year or two later, a sudden illness struck Dad, seemingly out of nowhere. He had just turned 50 years old. I remember speaking with Mom on the phone as she told me what had happened. We interrupt the regular content of Treasuring Home to bring you a few special editions.

Many of you have probably seen me posting on social media about the “new” vitamin. I’m sure you may have wondered, “Why is she promoting this?”or “What is this?” or “Is Jennifer Hall selling some kind of a product?” Or, maybe you haven’t wondered. Maybe you’ve just seen my posts about the vitamin and thought, “That’s weird,” and moved on up the newsfeed.
