We recently took a week-long trek, first to see our boys over in South Carolina and visit their university, and then up to Virginia for our first visit since we moved away in 2019.
What a blessed and busy time we had! God knows exactly what we need.
So, here come some pictures! (I tried to not overdo it, I really did. But…)
This was actually a “trial run,” the day before we left. Checking our headphone set-up for a little on-the-road entertainment.
We’re off to see the big brothers!
These fold down trays worked well for eating on the road.
Together again! The smiles tell it all.
Getting a feel for university life.
These little sisters sure do adore these big guys!
Squeezing in a quick music practice to prep for Sunday. The chaos you see here? EXACTLY what our family music practices are like.
Showing Dad the dorm.
Sam and Toby had to check it out too, of course.
BJUGrass! Joshua (far left) has expanded his musical horizons as the bass player for this college group. We enjoyed an awesome concert Thursday night while at the campus!
Heading up to Virginia!
Papa and Nana’s house! (Toby is looking more and more like his patriarchs every day! LOL)
Nana always has fun games and toys ready and waiting.
Cousins will always be special friends.
Little sweeties everywhere!
Practicing to sing this song. These oldest three of ours grew up in this church, and I’m forever grateful for how it shaped each of their lives.Honoring Steve’s parents, Frank and Judy, for 35 years of faithful ministry to this church fellowship.Family choir! Our family sang this song as a tribute to Frank and Judy. (We barely held back the tears!)
Steve’s whole family. Frank and Judy raised five children. Here’s the whole clan- left to right- Tim’s family (new baby coming in October!), Steve’s family, Daniel’s family, Johnny’s family, and Joy’s family. This picture was taken half way in-between church and lunch (as you can tell by the mixed attire, haha).
Enjoying the lovely Virginia countryside at a friend’s farm.
Impromptu hayride!
Kindred spirits & treasured friends.
So awesome hanging out with cousins your age. “Some fine future men, right there.” (That’s what Steve said when he saw this picture).
Our Annalise turned 6! We even squeezed in a birthday celebration on the trip.
Illinois sunset, to welcome us home.
I’d need three blog posts to show all the dear faces and special memories. Wherever you are, friends– treasure those God has placed in your life. You won’t always have them close. Time has a way of never standing still. ♥
Did you have a nice trip? All is well here. Love, GG
