The Writer

Welcome!  I’m so glad you have stopped by. My name is Jennifer, and on this blog I share my thoughts related to marriage, motherhood, ministry, and making a home. I have been married to my husband Steve for twenty-five years. Eight little travelers joined us along our journey over the years, now ranging in age from 25 down to 8 years.

Our growing crew now includes a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, and a beautiful granddaughter born in December of 2024.

In July 2019 we moved our crew from a farmhouse in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia to a sleepy little midwest town, where the train whistles blow and the massive wind turbines tower above the prairie. We now live on the edge of that town in what had been my parents’ home place of thirty years (affectionately dubbed “The Farm”) where we enjoy simple country living in a small but cozy house. (Less house, more home, right?!)

We homeschooled for nineteen years, with our oldest three children graduating during that time. In 2024, we placed our younger four children in a nearby Christian school, which has been an excellent fit for our family at this stage of our lives. I am still homeschooling our 10th grader who is also active in the sports program at our local public school.

I spend most of my days coordinating the comings and goings of our household, attempting to feed my hungry clan, folding laundry, washing piles of dishes with my crew, facilitating homework, cheering (too loudly) from the stands for my young athletes, working with my husband on our podcast and other related work, and trying to process how fast the years are flying by!

I enjoy porch swings, walks with my love, country roads, strawberry rhubarb pie, old hymns, staying home, watching football, singing with Steve and the kids, growing flowers, gathering eggs from our little henhouse, hanging laundry outside, thrifting, yard sales, quilts, giraffes, bright colors, and playing the piano and harp.

Steve is a pastor and also works part time in Marketing & Communications for Aardsma Research and Publishing (my parents’ work & ministry). I also work part time for Aardsma Research. More of a calling than a job, this work involves various facets, including our monthly podcast and Dr. Aardsma’s Anti-Aging Vitamins.

I am passionate about knowing God. I am so thankful that the way to know Him has been made possible by my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 7:25) I am grateful to God for His mercies anew every day and for His strength for the journey of life, which often leads to such unexpected places as we seek to follow Him.
