Stay Grounded

As a woman, there is an undeniable pull to my home, to my nest. This is what I call a “grounding force,” placed into the heart of a woman by Creator God. We must stay deeply rooted and grounded during such turbulent times.

We need to make a deliberate effort to step out of our paralysis of fear and all that we cannot control, and step into some positive action right here in our homes. Even a small amount of energy will begin to build upon itself, and you will find yourself looking around at things you can control, a place where you can make a difference and create a peaceful haven, a place where you can have real and lasting influence (the kind unknown to Twitter) in the lives of others, and thereby have real influence in the real world.

Your home is God’s gift to you. It is your domain (a real one, not virtual). Fill it up– with children, with friends and family (safely), with truth, with wholesome food, with order, with beauty. In so doing, your heart will be filled up too, your fears relieved, your eyes lifted outward and upward. I’m not merely talking about a way to relieve all the stress of current events, although that can and will happen. We are reaching far beyond what we can see by our simple and continual acts of making a home.

Your home does not have to be perfect or expensive; in fact, it’s amazing how simple and frugal the best and homiest of homes so often are. You are not running a museum, as I heard a wise person say once (LOL). Sometimes it will be downright chaotic and crazy, but during those times we can just take a deep breath and try to remember it’s actually a good sign. You are making a HOME where real people live and connect, and you are at the center of it– you are a grounding force for all who come through the doors.

Pour yourself into your home and enjoy it! There will always be distractions and we must keep them at bay. Stay grounded. Leave the rest to Him.

  1. Such a lovely heart-warming post Jennifer. And so needed during this time of unrest. I believe we are seeing a turning of hearts towards home in our country at this time ~ somewhat of a wake up call of sorts, back to the basics, the real, the true, the pure and the good. Keep up the great work in your home and ministry. That bread looks amazing! I can smell it from here! xoxoxo Mom
